OUR R&D FUNCTION Digital Innovation Lab – VDIL VDIL is our goal-focused unit, which brings new ideas to life and crafts new products, in close cooperation with Universities, Research Foundations and other companies.
OUR PUBLIC FUNDED R&D PROJECTS
A Model Smart Quality Assurance and Safety System for Fresh Poultry Products (QAPP)
QAPP (www.qapp.gr) is a three-year research project, aimed at creating scientific knowledge, understanding of processes and providing solutions to the challenges faced by the food industry in ensuring the quality and safety of products. The vision of the QAPP project is to develop an Intelligent Framework for Quality and Safety Management of poultry based products, supported by an integrated Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) platform that incorporates methods, data and decision support tools for those active in this market.
Vertoyo participates as the leading partner of this project and is involved in the design and development of the Intelligent Management System for Product-specific Quality and Safety, based on poultry products. VDP is used for new product development.
Project is co-financed by the E.U. and Greek national funds, though the Operational Programme Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, under the call RESEARCH – CREATE – INNOVATE (2014-2020)
Multiservice cApable iNtelligent TransportatIon Systems (MANTIS)
MANTIS (www.mantis-project.gr) will develop innovative applications based on the communication between vehicles and external Internet applications with a view to enable transport infrastructure and fleet management centers to monitor and track environmental conditions or extraordinary events.
Vertoyo is involved in developing transport services for the general public and the integration platform with Fleet Operators. VDP is used for new product development.

H2020 - Cloud-based Simulation of Page Curling from Straight Images and Correction using Neural Networks” (CURLO)
A solution to page decurling during robotic scanning equipment that allows automatic book scans with no damage. This project is expected to reduce scanning time leading to more competitive prices and the ability to deal with even more workload and can have a great impact on the papermaking industry in general for the prediction of paper “curl”, as this is an aspect of paper quality that has been proven difficult to predict. VDP is used for new product development.
Project under Fortissimo II, through the use of simulation services running on a High Performance Computing cloud infrastructure.
H2020 - Cloud-based Simulation of Desalination Systems Powered by Renewables (DESAL)
This project focuses on Renewable Energy Sources co-production optimization with a focus on using this development to power sustainable desalination installations (island, lakes and river sites). DESAL is implementing a simulation computing infrastructure for optimized coupled operation of these phenomena of Renewable Energy (RE)-powered Desalination systems, leading to optimized system designs and sizing of the corresponding subsystems. VDP is used for new product development.
